Dubai: Shaikha Hind Bint Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has won the Lifetime Achievement Award as part of the Arab Woman Awards UAE 2014 in recognition of her contributions to women’s issues and her outstanding role in supporting women in social work.

Shaikha Hind said the achievements made by UAE women in all walks of life, including social work, are normal outcomes due to the great support and care extended by the UAE leadership to Emirati women, in line with the directives of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Shaikh Mohammad, towards empowerment of UAE women and supporting them to be on an equal footing with their male counterparts.

Fatima Ahmad Al Mousa, a board member of the Dubai Women’s Society, received the award on behalf of Shaikha Hind at a gala dinner reception held at the Saint Regis Hotel in Abu Dhabi under the patronage of Shaikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Youth, Culture and Community Development.

Fifteen inspirational women were honoured during the awards ceremony, which was attended by over 400 prominent women from across the country..

Established in 2009 by ITP Consumer, the Arab Woman Awards are now held annually in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar. It aims to recognise outstanding Arab women for their contributions in various sectors, including government work, charity activities, business, education, art, literature, media and entrepreneurship.
